Introduction: Patek Philippe 1589J Calatrava watch is made in 18K yellow gold, the size is  size, 36 mm in diameter, with a Silvered dial, and sub second hand.  The watch is fitted with a 12”’120 caliber movement, #962831 and a case #301288.
Date & Paperwork:
The watch was made in 1948, confirmed with an extract from the archives confirming its date of manufacture and further sale in 1949.  Additionally, the watch comes with a one year movement guarantee.
Essay:
Patek Philippe introduced the reference 1589 in 1944 when gentleman's dress watches were typically manufactured with a 32-34mm diameter cases. The reference featured an Antoine Gerlach- fabricated oversized case measuring 36mm in diameter, however it had an even bigger look and feel thanks to its extended attached lugs.  Production was limited to approximately eight years and made in two series, the first with the caliber 12-120, such as the present watch. Followed by the caliber 12-400 . The Stern Frères dials were typically silvered or pink with Roman or square hour markers and outer pearled minute dots. 

Condition:  This watch is in amazing original condition.  The case has not been over polished, sharp edges to the case with very strong hallmarks.  Original crown and original factory dial. Plus original vintage gold Patek buckle.
