Reference 3445 was launched in 1961 as the manufacture’s first watch with date to be made in series. Both timeless and elegant, the model’s design did not change during its 20-year production span. The 3445 was produced in pink, yellow, and white gold, and a small quantity in platinum. All were fitted with the automatic caliber 27-460M, the evolution of Patek Philippe’s first automatic caliber 12-600.

Featuring a flat and thin case design, the 3445 is typical of the trends of the 1960’s, and has stayed in fashion ever since. Sized at 35mm, with sharp faceted lugs and a water-resistant case, the model is sought after today for its classic look. With an automatic movement and date window, the 3445 is the perfect every day watch. 

The present watch has acquired a beautiful patina to the yellow gold tone of the case, and the presence of a retailers signature further enhances the desirability. Edward and Benjamin Howes opened a jewelry store in Iowa in the early 1900's, and became well-known as retailers of pearls. The store would eventually close, and Benjamin moved out to the west coast and opened his own jewelry shop, B.D. Howes & Son Jewelers in 1919 in California. Benjamin was able to expand the business on the west coast to include 10 shop locations, and eventually became a retailer for Patek Philippe watches.
